Alfred Sanzari Enterprises Marks 70th Anniversary

Hackensack, NJ |

Alfred Sanzari Enterprises is marking its 70th year in business in 2015, and is poised to continue as a leading commercial real estate force in Northern New Jersey.   The firm is active in the development, ownership and operation of an impressive and diverse real estate portfolio that includes landmark properties ranging from Glenpointe in Teaneck – one of the first and most successful mixed-use complexes in the state – to The Ivanhoe, a luxury apartment complex in Hackensack which still is considered among Bergen County’s premier apartment buildings.   Throughout its history, the company has earned a reputation for its vision, implementation and management, making tenants and their changing needs a top priority. Founded by Alfred N. and Mary Sanzari in 1945, the company today continues the couple’s legacy of commitment to the region and brings a strong sense of family to every team member.   Having long shared in the firm’s success, Alfred Sanzari’s sons, David and Ben, continue to expand the company’s scope of capabilities and market share. Several of Alfred Sanzari’s grandchildren also have joined the family business, holding key operations and project management positions. Together, they maintain the company’s focus on providing premier service to tenants throughout the Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ portfolio of properties.   “There are many factors which have contributed to our company’s longevity and success, but underlying them all is the quality and Class A locations of our properties, and our focus on providing superior service to the individuals and companies that occupy our real estate products,” said David Sanzari, president and CEO. “A sense of family pride and meticulous attention to detail is shared by the department heads and staff throughout our company.”   A Diverse Bergen County Portfolio   A significant milestone in Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ history came in 1980 with the development of the 50-acre mixed-use Glenpointe complex. Alfred Sanzari’s keen foresight and determination transformed this once-unoccupied marshland into prime Bergen County real estate, restoring economic vitality to the area.   Today the complex encompasses 650,000 square feet of Class A office space; a 350-room Marriott at Glenpointe hotel; and Glenpointe Spa & Fitness, a 26,000-square-foot state-of-the-art health and fitness club. Located at the crossroads of I-80 and I-95, Glenpointe is home to some of the most prestigious corporate tenants in America. Subject to final approvals from the Township of Teaneck, construction is scheduled to begin this fall on a 350-room Hampton Inn and Suites and Homewood Suites hotel, located directly across the street from the Marriott at Glenpointe.   Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ diverse property portfolio also includes Court Plaza in Hackensack, a three-building Class A office complex located across from the Bergen County Courthouse; Heights Plaza in Hasbrouck Heights and Elmwood Park Plaza in Elmwood Park, two Class A office buildings; the Alfred N. Sanzari Medical Arts Building in Hackensack; Summit Plaza in Hackensack, a 100,000-square-foot retail center; several well-located industrial parks; and approximately 540 luxury and garden-style apartment units.   Since its inception, Alfred Sanzari Enterprises has maintained ownership of almost every asset in its portfolio, a farsighted business philosophy valued by tenants that rely on the firm’s stability as a property owner/manager. Every property within the firm’s portfolio is continuously updated and modernized, ensuring an efficient and attractive environment for tenants. This proactive, hands-on approach to property management has become a company hallmark.   “We manage all of our properties with the same long-term perspective,” said David Sanzari. “Our property management team recommends required upgrades and constantly assesses our buildings to accomplish improvements whenever necessary, guaranteeing that each property projects a quality image throughout its life.”   Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ in-house construction division also plays a vital role in the company’s success. Every aspect of a real estate project, from site planning to turn-key construction services, is handled by a team of architects, engineers, construction managers, and financial and legal experts. This practice sets the stage for the lifelong relationship the company has with all its properties.   The Legacy of Alfred and Mary Sanzari   Alfred Sanzari Enterprises’ commitment to quality and service extends back to its early beginnings. After his return home from serving in World War II, Alfred Sanzari established a sheet metal subcontracting firm built on self-reliance, hard work, fiscal responsibility and integrity. These qualities, and a strong sense of pride in the Sanzari family name, have endured throughout the company’s history and remain a cornerstone of the company’s business philosophy.   Alfred Sanzari’s first project was a single-family home in Dumont. Next came 17 homes in Woodcliff Lake followed by luxury homes, apartment complexes and commercial real estate development. Along the way, he built personal relationships that helped his business grow, always insisting on superior client service and uncompromising detail for every project.   Alfred Sanzari was described as a man with integrity who displayed confidence and sincerity when he dealt with people. Even after all of his success, he was never one to rest on his laurels and continued working long hours every day of his 55-year career. Throughout his life Alfred Sanzari received numerous awards for his service to the community and giving back remains a big part of the company’s corporate culture.   In 2013, a public garden built by Alfred Sanzari Enterprises to honor the legacy of Alfred and Mary Sanzari was dedicated to the city of Hackensack. Located at the corner of Main and Essex streets, the 10,000-square-foot site is a place for members of the community to relax and enjoy nature, and serves as a gateway to the city’s revitalized business district.   “It’s not just 70 years in business that we are celebrating, but the impact Alfred Sanzari Enterprises has had on Bergen County’s real estate and business communities, and the industry reputation we have achieved,” said David Sanzari. “As we look toward the future, our goal is to remain a leader in Northern New Jersey’s real estate community, and substantially increase the size of our company with respect to our commercial, multi-family and hospitality buildings.”
