United Tae Kwon Do Center Joins Tenant Mix at Summit Plaza in Hackensack, N.J.
Martial arts studio United Tae Kwon Do Center has leased 1,500 square feet at Summit Plaza in Hackensack, becoming the latest tenant to join the diverse retail lineup at this key Bergen County shopping center. The 100,000-square-foot retail property is owned and managed by Alfred Sanzari Enterprises.
Stacey Tsapatsaris of The Greco Realty Group negotiated the lease on behalf of Alfred Sanzari Enterprises. Susan Preisler of Winick Realty Group NJ, LLC served as the tenant’s broker in the transaction.
Summit Plaza’s outstanding demographics and proximity to major highways were a tremendous upside for the tenant, according to Tsapatsaris. “In any retail setting it’s important to provide consumers not only a supply of goods, but also a supply of services. United Tae Kwon Do Center brings an excellent synergy to Summit Plaza’s existing co-tenancy. We are confident this tenant will become a valuable amenity for local residents and a strong part of the community.”
Established in 2000 and now offering more than 20 convenient locations throughout New York and New Jersey, United Tae Kwon Do Center provides high-quality martial arts programs for children, adults and families. Each center offers flexible class schedules and programs designed to help each student reach his or her maximum potential.
“Summit Plaza is the perfect location to expand our growing New Jersey presence,” said Bruce Song, president of United Tae Kwon Do Center. “I look forward to introducing United Tae Kwon Do Center’s award-winning programming to a whole new customer base in Bergen County.”
The center’s convenient location was an added benefit to the tenant, according to Preisler. “United Tae Kwon Do Center studios typically open in locations where parents can run errands while their children are in class. The new Hackensack studio includes a modern reception area with large screen televisions. It’s a very family-friendly atmosphere,” she said.
Located at 370-380 West Pleasantview Ave. at the intersection of Route 17, Summit and West Pleasantview Avenues, Summit Plaza is anchored by an expanded 62,000- square-foot Super Stop & Shop. The high-profile center boasts a diverse mix of nationally recognized retail and service tenants including Harmon Cosmetics, GNC, Payless ShoeSource, RadioShack, Dress Barn, The UPS Store, GameStop and Blimpie as well as typical neighborhood services such as a dry cleaner and a pizzeria.
Two retail spaces (1,200 SF and 4,000 SF) remain available at Summit Plaza.
Summit Plaza’s location in the heart of Route 17’s retail corridor, excellent daily consumer traffic and strong demographics all contribute to its appeal. The center is near Routes 4, 46 and 80, and surrounded by 14 towns within a three-mile radius. The center serves a growing residential population of more than 100,000 people within a two-mile radius and a daytime population of more than 66,000 people within the same two miles. The marketplace offers a median household income of about $80,000.
“The long list of well-established tenants who have chosen to locate, stay and grow their business at Summit Plaza is a testament to its appeal,” said Jerry L. Barta, vice-president/director of leasing and marketing for Alfred Sanzari Enterprises. “With the recent addition of United Tae Kwon Do Center, Summit Plaza is well-positioned to continue its role as a favored local shopping destination.”
